Why sparring gloves are kept apart
Heavy bag work compacts glove padding over time, and a glove that has gone hard over the knuckles hits a partner harder than its weight suggests. That is why many clubs keep a set of gloves for sparring only, and why a sparring glove is specified for softness and even padding rather than for punishment on the bag.
For a club, a separate sparring order in one design and one colourway also makes the gloves easy to tell apart on the rack.
