Start with what members will do
Order by use, not by catalogue. A new intake needs gloves for bag and pad work from the first session, and sparring gloves once members start sparring. Hand wraps go under every glove. Kit to wear, shorts, T-shirts and hoodies in club colours, is what makes a new member feel part of the club, and it is the order most clubs repeat every intake.
Club kit for gyms and academies
- Bag and pad gloves: the first thing every member uses.
- Sparring gloves: heavier and softer, kept for sparring only.
- Hand wraps: one set per member, worn under every glove.
- Head guards: for members who spar.
- Focus mitts: for the coaches running pad work.
- Fightwear and club apparel: shorts, T-shirts, hoodies, in your colours with your crest.

Glove weights for a mixed membership
Glove weight follows the use and the person. Bag and pad gloves for adults are usually 12 to 16 oz, and sparring gloves 14 to 16 oz; a heavier member, or a bigger hand, moves up the range. As a starting point by body weight:
- Under 45 kg: 8–10 oz for bag and pads, 12–14 oz for sparring.
- 45–68 kg: 10–12 oz for bag and pads, 14–16 oz for sparring.
- 68–80 kg: 12–14 oz for bag and pads, 16 oz for sparring.
- Over 80 kg: 14–16 oz for bag and pads, 16 oz for sparring.
Juniors
Children under about 8 usually wear 4 or 6 oz gloves, and older juniors move into the adult 8 oz and up. List juniors separately on the sizing sheet, so their gloves are planned as their own weights rather than guessed from the adult range.
Collecting sizes without guesswork
The quickest way to a right-first-time order is one sheet, one row per member, filled in at a session rather than chased by message. Our club sizing sheet has the columns already set out: name, junior or adult, body weight, height, hand size around the knuckles, glove weight if known, head, waist, top and shorts size from XS to 3XL, and gi size from A0 to A4.
- Measure at the club: a tape measure and ten minutes at the end of a session beats sizes guessed at home.
- Hand size around the knuckles settles a glove between two weights.
- Count by size at the end: the totals per glove weight and garment size are what your quote needs.
- Leave space for growth in juniors' tops, and say so on the sheet.
How the minimum works for a club
The minimum is 50 pairs per design for gloves and 50 pieces per design for apparel. A design is one product made to one specification, and it splits across weights and sizes in any mix: 4 or 6 oz for juniors alongside 14 or 16 oz for sparring, with no minimum per weight. It can also be split across colourways, with at least 25 in each, but different products cannot be combined to reach 50.
For a smaller intake: if this intake is twenty or thirty members, a single glove design in one colourway still lets you reach 50 by adding spare pairs for the next joiners and for replacements. Keeping one design, in one colourway or two of at least 25, is usually what makes the numbers work.
Worked example
An intake of 30, with 8 juniors and 22 adults, plus spares: 4 pairs of 6 oz and 4 of 8 oz for the juniors, then 10, 12, 14 and 16 oz for the adults and the spare stock, reaching 50 pairs of one glove design. The split is yours to set; the example only shows how a mixed club reaches the minimum.
Timing the order
Work back from the date the kit is needed. You see a free mockup first, then a physical sample delivered in 7–10 days, with half its price credited against bulk, and bulk production typically takes 4–6 weeks for gloves, or 3–5 weeks for club apparel, from sample approval, plus courier transit. Your exact dispatch date is confirmed in writing with your quote.
Sending the sizing sheet with the brief, rather than after the sample, saves a round of messages and keeps the dispatch date where you need it.
The next intake
The approved sample is kept in our workshop and the specification stored, so the next intake's kit matches the first: same colours, same crest, same padding. A reorder needs the quantities per size, not the whole brief again.
