Between a fight glove and a sparring glove
A fight glove is typically 4 oz, made for the bout, and a sparring glove 7 to 8 oz, made to protect a training partner. A hybrid glove sits between them: more protection over the knuckles than a fight glove, and a segmented knuckle that bends, so the hand can still close for grips and submissions.
That is why amateur federations and recreational fighters often train in one pair of hybrids rather than two different gloves. Members who spar hard can still add a dedicated sparring glove later.
